Corporate Accountability and Human Rights

This initiative promotes greater corporate human rights accountability by fostering the strengthening, compliance, and awareness of business environmental and human rights normative frameworks and standards at the local and international level.

Mission
CEDHA seeks to promote greater corporate responsibility in fulfilling and protecting human rights. We work in the awareness of enterprises, public-sector actors, international agencies and society in general liability business on human rights. We work by improving access to justice to victims socially and environmentally impacted by actions entrepreneurs, promoting the use and strengthening of regulatory frameworks and standards of human rights that govern companies locally and internationally.

Objectives
From this perspective, CEDHA work in various initiatives, pursue three main objectives

  • Promote the use and strengthening of regulatory frameworks and standards of human rights that govern companies locally and internationally.
  • Promote awareness of companies, public-sector actors, international agencies and society at large on corporate responsibility in human rights.
  • Defending victims impacted socially and environmentally by actions of Enterprises.

Activities include:

  • Compilation of Corporate Accountability Standards
  • Raising the awareness of state actors on weaknesses and needs of existing legislation and controls over corporate activity impacting human rights and the environment.
  • Capacity building of business, civil society organizations, and the academic sector, on social and environmental business norms and standards.
  • Information dissemination to civil society on human rights and environmental impact of corporate activity.
  • Study and dissemination of information on social and environmental impact of industrial sectors.
  • Analysis and advocacy to strengthen enforcement mechanisms for social and environmental business norms.
  • Dissemination of information on access to justice mechanisms in cases of corporate violations of human rights and environmental laws.
