Institutional Advocacy
CEDHA considers its work as part of a larger movement of human rights and environmental advocacy. We promote the creation of, and advocacy action by networks. We participate actively in the following networks:
Argentine Environmental Lawyers Network (RADA)
Coordinated and housed at CEDHA, the RADA is a network of nearly 60 attorneys from across Argentina. RADA is a system of inter-communication between members and bridges experiences of practicing attorneys on environmental matters. RADA's members contribute ideas, know-how, and their own experience as well as consult the network regarding cases they are litigating and possible strategies to enforce environmental law and strengthen environmental governance. RADA also offers ongoing and up-to-date consultation opportunities relative to national environmental litigation.
The MERCOSUR Human Rights Public Policy Observatory
This is a regional organization comprising civil society representatives from Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. The observatory's mission is to identify, monitor, and influence human rights public policy in the countries of the MERCOSUR trade agreement and procures to articulate work with other CSOs contributing to the institutional consolidation of MERCOSUR, promoting fundamental rights in an integral manner, with an emphasis on the most vulnerable social sectors.
The International Network on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (INESCR Net)
The International ESCR Network is a collaborative initiative between individuals and groups from different global regions working towards social justice and human rights, with a particular focus on economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR).
Inter-American Association for the Defense of the Environment (AIDA)
Founded in 1996 AIDA works to strengthen a group of non-governmental organizations of different Latin American countries to confront grave environmental threats aggravated by economic activity and the uncontrolled extraction of environmental resources from the region.
World Conservation Union (IUCN)
IUCN is the largest environmental conservation network, comprising 82 States, 111 governmental organizations, more than 800 non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and approximately 10,000 scientists and other experts from 181 countries, in a unique global society. Its mission is to influence promote, and assist societies of the world to conserve nature's integrity and diversity, assuring that all use of natural resources be done in an equitable and ecologically responsible manner.
Inter-American Democracy Network
This network works towards integrated American hemispheric solidarity, with well-structured democratic systems fostering inclusive social, cultural and political arenas, and in which civil society has a participatory, protagonist and responsible role. The network brings together CSOs working together in a public arena, to strengthen participatory democracy and the construction of civic identity. To this aim, the network disseminates information on rights and democratic responsibilities of individuals promoting more effective exercise of human rights in local communities; promotes the strengthening of more responsible participation; carries out collaborative advocacy between organizations and regional leaders; while strengthening the technical and institutional capacity of its members.
Ríos Vivos
Ríos Vivos is a coalition of nongovernmental organizations and communities aiming to contain social, cultural, and environmental degradation, and implement sustainable policies that allow for the creation of a new relationship between society and nature in Latin America, Europe and North America. Hundreds of organizations, communities and research institutions are inter-connected through this coalition.
